The Doctor, still in the act of getting to his feet, was thrown forward and around and over; he lost track of everything, because things were so speed up; he felt the water. (Page 11)
It is hard for me to understand this passage. It is hard for me to picture what is happening. It happens so fast and the author explains it so fast that I can't understand it.

In this passage its talking about Dr. Fiujii, while he was sitting down reading the new paper. A bright light came to him, where suddenly he was thrown all around, lost track of everything, and he was surrounded by water
It is going so fast because the atomic bomb was just a flashed, and that is it. The author is trying to tell us how powerful the atomic bomb is.
